Through Dan McCoy, a fellow photographer, I was invited to photograph a cattle round up in the Flint Hills. There is something about a sunrise in the Flint Hills that is hard to describe. We were out in the pasture at first light as they started leading the cattle in from a distant pasture.

After the cattle brought in they were weighed and broken into groups to be loaded on trucks for the trip to a commercial feedlot. It was exciting to watch the cowboys and their horses at work cutting the cattle in the pens. I found it interesting to be using high tech digital cameras shooting cowboys doing things the same way with the same tools as a hundred years ago.
